Celebration-worthy events
Celebration - #1 - Last Post I shared about my brother's birthday which we celebrated at a Japanese restaurant. His actual birthday was on Saturday, and so we had another celebratory meal which is a favorite of our whole family -- curry. The first collage is of our special meal on Saturday.
Celebration - #2 - On Monday, I took my Mom to our dentist for her initial visit since she moved from IL to OH to be with us. Our dentist and the hygienist were pleased with Mom's excellent teeth. At almost 90, Mom has more teeth ... and all originals ... than anyone else in our three generation home! After leaving the dentist office she wanted to go to Dairy Queen for a Peanut Buster Parfait! I on the other hand had a low-calorie pinya-collada smoothie (suitable since I didn't inherit her great teeth)!
Celebration - #3 - Our granddaughter has been continuing to earn one belt after another in karate, very rapidly. We have been to a couple of her sessions where she displayed her talents along with the rest of her class, and then got her new belt. Currently she has a red belt (which is just under the black belt categories). Our daughter-in-law keeps us up to date with pictures and stories on Facebook. This next picture is one that I got from Facebook, along with the caption that her mom put with it: "Tristen is in the leadership program now so she gets to help with Brogan's class. He's the little guy on the left kicking."
Celebration - #4 - Our son Shaun's wife Melissa put this up on Facebook. (He had already called us to share his good news, but it was so sweet to see his wife's proud words. She deserves some of that credit along with him -- for "holding down the fort!" Her words: "It's officially official folks. My hard-working husband Shaun Justice finished his last quarter for his bachelors & will be graduating with a 4.0!!! Not bad considering he's been chipping away at it while going through his 2nd & 3rd deployments, buying a house/moving, 2 more babies, studying for/passing multiple computer certs, me going through radiography school, 4 career changes, countless Army schools, day/night shift changes, advances in his military career, & being a husband/dad & provider. He missed his 1st graduation bc of his 1st deployment & got his degree in the mail. He finally gets to celebrate his hard work & wear a cap & gown & I couldn't be happier for him. So proud of you babe! Congrats!—feeling proud."
Celebration - #5 - Our flowers are gorgeous! I've been having trouble with my back for the past couple of weeks, and so haven't been able to water them or weed or anything! But God has sent lots of rain and sunshine to take care of them! -- Psalm 147:7-8 -- "Celebrate and sing! Play your harps for the Lord our God. He fills the sky with clouds and sends rain to the earth, so that the hills will be green with grass."
I hope all of you my friend find things to celebrate in your lives each day!

Wow - wonderful, amazing, for your son. Congrats to him.
I love your flowers, they are beautiful.
I have been wanting so badly to go to one of those Japanese steak houses where they do the cooking in front of you. It is always so delicious.
Monday with your mom sounds nice. What is her secret I wonder, to having good teeth at such an age. I can't get over how good your mother looks for 90 years. I never would have guessed.
And how impressive of your granddaughter to be in a leadership position at such a young age.
You have been quite busy... don't forget to stop and smell the roses.
Blessings to you,
Lynn
Thanks, Lynn. We're so proud of him and his diligence to reaching his goal... and his daughter for being diligent in her karate. Hope it keeps the boys away!
HUGS 2 U, and blessings, too.
Mom's secret: 1. She takes good care of her teeth. 2. Genetics. (I on the other hand, got my dad's teeth; & I take care of my teeth, but she outShines me here.)
I hear that a lot -- that she doesn't look like she's 90. Guess that might be genes, too!
Good advice about smelling the roses!
congratulations to him for earning his degree! the food and flowers look wonderful ~
Thank you!
Oh, I love this!
So many amazing wonderful things to celebrate!
Congrats to your son! What a great accomplishment! Give him an extra hug from me!
That is so good that your granddaughter gets to be a leader and help the younger kids!
Your flowers are so beautiful!
Your mom is so cute! I'm glad she and her teeth have had some fun lately!
It's fun to celebrate the BIG things...but, also, fun to celebrate those daily "little" things (like flowers) that are often taken for granted! You did an excellent job of celebrating here!
HUGS and ♥ !!!
Thanks for joining me in celebrating my celebrations!

It is fun and good to celebrate things BIG and small.
And having friends like those on Xanga (yes, like you!) is another BIG reason to celebrate!
HUGS & ♥ !!!
This was all just great!!! Petunias are my favorite, they remind me of my Grandmother <3 also I would have ordered the Peanut Buster Parfait too, even though I should just get a glass of water...I'm weak when it comes to Dairy Queen!
I love flowers of all kinds. Thanks for enjoying with me (including the P.B.Parfait via imagination)! I love DQ treats, too!
Beautiful flowers. Until I came to this country, I had the best teeth. The processed foods and the toothpastes just didn't jive with me. Mother used to make special tooth powders that we used on our teeth. Dang, no one does that anymore.
Thank you, Zakiah. I asked Mom if she knew about tooth powders, and she said that they used to use them; which reminds me that Dad used to use baking soda to brush his teeth. I checked the internet, and found recipes for making ones own tooth powder. Interesting.
Lots of things to be thankful for! I'm impressed with you mom's dental visit! I hope I have my own teeth at 90! Your flowers are looking beautiful! Our day lilies just opened - finally!
So much to be thankful for always!
Thanks for sharing the enjoyment of my blessings. ♥
Glad your day lilies are open now, too. They are such beautiful flowers!
Hi Carolyn. I loved this post!!!!! Congrats to the son.
If I was raising daughters today (an sons) they would be taken to Karate classes early for sure.
Love curry. There was a food court once that had a lace that sold it--it was really good.
Love your flowers and garden. I am happy with our roses.
Hope you have a great weekend.
Again, loved reading this post.
Blessings
frank
Thanks, Frank... for your congratulations and enjoyment and sharing of my blessings.
I've never seen a food court with curry... I'd enjoy going to eat at that place (if they made it mild enough for my tummy).
Roses are so pretty! I'll bet your roses are beautiful! Blessings for you, Norma, and a great weekend! ♥ ♥
Much to celebrate! Congratulations!
Thank you Gail.
There should should be more young men like Shaun. No wonder you are so proud of him.
Thank you, John. That means a lot.
How wonderful for your son! He sure is not a quitter! Some would never have been able to maintain school with all the other stuff going on! Not only did he maintain, but he is graduating with excellent grades! You have a lot to be proud/thankful for! The flowers are wonderful! The only flowering plant I have sits in a small pot by our front door. Right now, it is a sunflower. When it gives up, I will find something else! We have no personal lawn, but I like my front door space to look welcoming. I am with your mom. That peanut butter thing sounds yummy. I love peanut butter! Blessings to you!
Before I began planting, I would satisfy my desire for beautiful flowers by having flowers/various plants in a pot or vase.
The sunflower sounds nice. I'm sure your house looks welcoming from the front door, & right through the heart of the home - you & Warren!
The thing Mom got was chocolate & peanuts; peanut butter ... I might have weakened on not having that! I too love peanut butter!
Thank you for your sweet comments about my son. He's a sweetheart, too ... both of our sons (& daughter) have never minded at all giving both their mom
and their dad hugs in public.
On the first photo your mother looks so happy in front of her plate filled with delicious food.
On the second she looks younger and younger . I believe sincerely the move at your home has rejuvenated her.
I am not surprised with Tirsten . I always said she was gifted in all fields.
Your son is a courageous man . I see myself at this age . Melissa is kind . Beautiful couple.
And those flowers? They sing summer.
I loved this post ,Carolyn , so much colored of dynamism , life and love
Michel
Dear Michel,
I do believe you are right about Mom's moving her rejuvenating her.
After the initial adjustment, she has just been happier all the time!
Thank you for your kind remarks about Tristen and her parents.
I could see you at that age! They are 32; he will soon be 33. They are
both really sweet.
I enjoy reading of your life in France, your precious family, and the many
plants (garden vegetables, trees, & flowers) that you grow.
Blessings and love,
Carolyn
