Back again

I have been keeping busy since my last post. I've been at meetings, written up minutes, had dental surgery, I've been to a bridal shower, a missionary shower, 2 weddings (one was actually last month), taken Mom to Urgent Care & then to her doctor for bronchitis, & now I myself have bronchitis (yes, 2nd time in less than two months). Here's a few pictures of the things mentioned.
Niece's wedding & time with our younger son, DIL, & 2 younger grandchildren. (Oldest on was in a karate tournament, in which she won a 1st, a 2nd, & a 3rd prize.)

Next is from the other wedding we attended, which was my former private student, Nicole. The other couple in the professional photo are long-time friends of ours who shared a table with us.

The last pictures I am posting are gifts from Mother's Day (& Grandma's Day, too). Mom also received some beautiful flowers, so you can see we've been enjoying the outside brought inside our home! (The 2nd & 3rd photo collages)

See you around on Xanga!

the chocolate strawberries are so beautiful!
They're delicious, too!
I hope you are feeling better soon! Bronchitis seems to linger especially this time of year! Love the recap in photos - lovely gifts for Mother's Day!!
Thanks, Val. I'm working at it by resting lots!
Glad you enjoyed the quickie photo recap.
you had a good mothers' day
Yes, I did!
Hope yours was special as well.
I answered the other two comments on your posts.
my hubby is a foot taller then I am but it's ok cause he is really a sweet man and little kids like him and animals, too.
I'm back at work but just for 4 hours.
she's not my real aunt but she's Aunt Rose to the whole mall and she's been there since they opened in 1987 and we all love her.
it is my real sister. She is 9yrs younger but now we seem the same age.
Hi Carolyn,
Looks like you did good despite dealing with some illnesses. Loved your photo tour---i love weddings. They are such happy event with some crying as they watch the service. I think I know why.
blessings
frank
Thanks, Frank. We are still getting over the bronchitis, but with enough time, the meds and the rest will do their work!
I agree that weddings are so happy. I don't tend to be a crier, but I know that many folks do cry at weddings.
This gal Nicole whose wedding we attended was like our own daughter. I home-schooled her for her parents from the time
she was 9 (grade 4) until she was 18 (graduated from high school). She's a keeper! We're still very close. SO... IF I
were going to cry, this would have been the time ... but I didn't!
I can really sympathize with you on the bronchitis. I've only been over my last bout for a week. It had me down.
Bronchitis does seem to have an affinity for us!
Thanks for sharing your life in pictures. Glad you are resting, and hope you feel better soon. Praying your mom is better now. My mom had bronchitis not long ago. We think it was caused by some food that she choked on.
I'm glad you liked the pictures. Thank you for your prayers.
I'm used to having bronchitis, but Mom isn't, and she's almost 90,
so I definitely do not like to have her being sick. She is getting
better, but still not up to her usual energy level.
I've never heard of bronchitis being caused by choking on food.
I hope and pray you and your Mom are both well soon! Bronchitis is so ughy.
Congrats to those who got married!
And Congrats to the karate champ! Wow!

Weddings are wonderful and looks like the ones you attended were so beautiful, and such fun!
Those flowers are so lovely...it's great to have them indoors to enjoy!
HUGS and ♥ !!!
Thank you friend for your hopes and prayers.
With those I surely have no cares.
Thank you, too for the nice comment.
My love and hugs I just now sent!

Hi Carolyn,
You have been incredibly busy, and it looks like it was a wonderful mother's day.
I have no such excuse for taking so long to reply to a conversation we started a while ago and I am sorry I have not responded till now to your questions. I had been looking for the private message function, but I guess that went when the old Xanga went. Then I looked to see if I had ever gotten your e-mail address but found I had never done that. So I guess I will just have to take up a lot of room on your page to answer.
(P.s. - I would love to have your e-mail address
)
So anyway, you had asked about my Transverse Myelitis. I was struck at age 15 and paralyzed. It was back in 1975, so none of the doctors knew anything about this illness. The only diagnosis they could come up with was that I might have a blood clot in my spinal cord so an exploratory surgery was done. (This was a devastating time for my mother.) Anyway nothing was found, though they knew from the mylogram that there was a deviation of the spinal fluid in the spinal column. The doctors had no prognosis and said they did not know if I would walk again. The fact that I recovered and did walk again, I give to God, my faith in Him, and my determination. I have been told that I am one of the exceptions... that to me is the God factor.
Anyway, though the paralysis did abate, and I did learn to walk again, I am nevertheless left with certain neurological deficits and dysfunctions... weakness of left leg, no hot/cold/pain sensation in right leg(or any way not what you would call normal sensation. As time passed the nerves developed new ways of alerting, but hot/cold/pain, they all feel the same). I received my diagnosis only after I had left the hospital and my father took me to see a specialist, who I believe was from Egypt (his name was Sharrif Shafey anyway). He knew immediately what had afflicted me, pulled a book off his shelf, and proceeded to explain that, 'we see alot more of this in my country, but not here'. My belief is that God has a purpose for my condition.
I also am an overdoer, and have to not do this or I feel the effects. Thank you so much for sharing with me, your story. You are an encouragement... and the world needs alot of that. I know that I do. I love seeing your happy smiling face in your profile picture and whenever you visit my page you leave me with smiles.
Blessings to you,
Lynn
RYC: I too have missed the private message function that we used to have on the old Xanga, but since we don't have it, this works fine. However, I'm sending you my e-mail address.
You are about the age of my two younger siblings. In 1975, I did my student teaching, graduated from college, had my first teaching job, and met the man who is my husband! (I was 22 that year.)
I did some research on Transverse Myelitis, and saw some similarities to GBS (a condition that our older son had when he was 19 years old). While TM involves an inflammatory attack in the central nervous system Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) involves the peripheral nervous system. I know from having gone through this with him, that this must have been a very difficult time for your mom. God gave my husband and me His 'peace that passeth all understanding” during the 3 months that were the most scary.
Back to the condition you have though. In some of the research I read: “The TM diagnosis remains a challenge for the medical community. A part of the challenge concerns the fact that there are many different diseases and disorders that present with very similar symptoms as are associated with TM.”
I too believe that God has a purpose for my condition, and that He only will permit what He can use in our lives for His glory and for my good. My life verse is Romans 8:28 -29 – “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
So dear Lynn, you are my soul sister in more ways than one!
I do pray that I can always be an encouragement to you, even as you are to me.
The pictures are beautiful! Love the chocolate strawberries. I have some melting chocolate on hand. I'll have to do some strawberries again! The flowers and collages are a feast to the eyes too.
Hope your week-end is beautiful!
Thank you, Miriam. I should try to master that art (i.e.- dipping fruit). I'm sure it could be done much less expensively than what it costs to purchase them! The weather finally seems to be becoming more spring-like!
Hope your weekend was delightful!
respiratory distress, like bronchitis can be very stressful. Be sure to get plenty of rest, water and to follow you doctor's advice! Sound like you have a wonderful family!
Thank you so very much for your kind comment. I truly appreciated your words.
I had to make a doctor's appt. yesterday, since the meds from the Urgent Care doctor didn't seem to be helping (I'd run out of my Z-pack). The new meds seem to be having more of an effect, though I'm still coughing. they all say what you do though: Get plenty of rest & water! You should be a doctor!
Blessings on your new week.
I truly am blessed with a wonderful family (past, present, & future)! I'm glad you were encouraged by my words, because I meant them!
my brother said he isn't having any pain.
I didn't have pain either with my foot surgery but just felt like sandpapered my foot but he had a little bigger surgery then I did.
I'm glad your brother isn't having any pain .... and that you didn't either. I"m still intrigued by your "sandpaper" description!
I hope your mother is doing bettter now and you too Carolyn . The beautiful month of May gives sometimes weird surprises such chilly effect at night after a sunny day ; We catch easily a cold . I hope your bronchitis is healed .
Love
Lichel
Thank you Michel, for your kind wishes. We are improving slowly.
This bronchitis just is very virulent and seems to hang on, but
I do believe that there is some improvement.
I eat horseradish for bronchial problems, clears up your sinuses too! The flowers an strawberries are to die for! Hope your week is going better!
Horseradish! That is a new one for me. I don't keep anything like that around, but when I've had it, it does seem to clear up sinuses!
I think that part of this must be to develop more patience in this patient!
I'm gradually improving with medicine, rest, and prayers aplenty.
RYC :This bronchitis is really tenacious, Carolyn . I hope you got a radiography of your lungs.
Take care
Love
Michel
Thank you for your concern, Michel. It is tenacious... but the meds,
and extra rest are gradually doing their work.
LOVE,
Carolyn
How are you feeling?!
I hope you and your mom are both well now!
HUGS!!!
Both Mom and I are better than we were for sure, but both of us still are dealing with congestion still.
My cough is still bad, but controlled more by the meds. Mom is working with much less energy than normal,
but then she's had this 3 weeks & is almost 90! We were warned that it could hang on for awhile.
Thanks for your concern and HUGS .... Have some guaranteed (by distance) germ-free HUGS your way, too! ♥
You're right in your comments. We are holding the light for the world. I also feel like we need to hold up truth in everything including politics. I realize God doesn't need us to fix things. I don't feel called to be quiet about politics. I realize it's the same old, same old but one little voice could help to turn the tide.
I hope so.
You are also right in your blog. I agree that we need to hold up the truth in all areas. I'm very glad that you are the voice for truth in politics, etc. I try to do some voicing as well, but I am not nearly as good at expressing myself as you are. I truly appreciate your blogging as you do. If we don't speak up when we feel led to do so, then we are all in trouble. Thank you for being you, & letting your light shine and your voice heard!
