  • RELAXED!! =-]

Had some minor surgery yesterday ...and have been being spoiled by my mom and husband; plus being helped by my brother (who bought some groceries for us).  We also had some help from friends from church. One lady took us to the hospital and another picked us up later.  Here is a picture of a beautiful basket of flowers sent from the church.

Flowers from the church. Does anyone see me in the picture? I'm in the reflection of the mirror. My flowers are on my bedside table, and the lamp (& I) are in the reflection of the mirror

Probably most of you wonder - why did someone have to take you and your husband to the hospital and back.... why didn't your husband take you himself? My husband is blind from a condition called retinitis pigmentosa, so I'm the driver of the family, and I had no business being behind the wheel of a car after having had the anesthesia! :-)

Here is my interpretation of what happened, after talking to the anesthesiologist.  (This is a cinquain poem -- two, in fact, to give my take on the experience.  A cinquain consists of five unrhymed lines with a set number of syllables: 2 - 4 - 6 - 8 - 2.)

    Drug Doc:
    You will relax.
    You will see the surgeon.
    Hubby: Surgery's over now.
    Me: What?

    But how?
    Didn't see Doc.
Hub: Yes, you talked to him.
    I don't remember anything.
    Relaxed!

The following is to my husband's website, which is mainly Bible studies that he writes. However, the link here is to the section of his site which deals with blindness, This own reflections and testimonial re: dealing with it, etc   LINK

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.    :-)    It will definitely be a day of rest for me ... doctor's orders (& husband, mom, et al)!

  • Glad all is well and you are taking it easy! I didn't know your husband was blind - his blog posts are interesting.

    • I've been on Xanga since the end of Nov. 2004, and in some of my earlier posts I have shared about his blindness. I shall share more again in future posts, especially since I have now made many new friends(since Xanga's switch to a paying membership took away many of my former friends). I'm glad that you are one of them! ♥ I'm glad that you were able to check out some of his blog posts, too. :-)

  • No one is poor, who is rich in friends.

  • You are in my thoughts and prayers!

    Yes, get lots of rest!
(Milk this for all it's worth! ;-) Ha! :-D I'm pretty sure the doc said you can't do dishes for a month. Right?! ;-) )

The flowers are gorgeous! What a beautiful basket of love! :-)

    ♥ and HUGS!!! :-)

    • Thanks for the thoughts and prayers, Carolyn.
I am getting lots of rest.
Funny that you chose "dishes" for your comment,
because Mike (my hubs) does them all of the time, pretty much. :-)
That is something he enjoys doing for me. Once in awhile if he
gets behind, I'll use our dishwasher or do them by hand myself.
      Yes, I LIKE that: "... a basket of love!" ♥ :-)
      ♥ ♥ & HUGS back to you! ♥ :-)

  • Hi Carolyn, You are in my prates and wish you a speedy recovery.

Loved your poem explaining the surgery. I have had surgery and woke up surprised it was done so quickly. lol

    Blessing and healing to you.

    Sorry about hubby's vision challenges.

    blessings,

    frank

    • Thanks for your prayers, Frank.
      Glad you liked the poem.
It really does say it as it is... my hubby
is teasing me about my total amnesia! ;-)
I will write more about his blindness soon.
It is actually a "blessing in disguise."
      ♥ Carolyn

  • I'm ready for my surgery on the 19 the bunionectomy.
I have had pain for a long time so it will be a relief when it's over and on my mind.
My hubby said,"you sound like you're looking forward to it." I said,"yes, cause I will be able to walk again without pain after I heal up from the surgery. Yeah!
Yes, I see you in the mirror. Glad you weren't naked. LOL private joke between us.

    • I'll be praying for your surgery. Yes, I am sure that it will be a relief!
Any of us who have had to live in chronic pain understands that sometimes
one must go through extra pain to get rid of the chronic pain!
Jill, I thought of you when I saw myself in the mirror! Yes, and I smiled
as I wrote the "Do you see me" knowing that you'd appreciate it for that
      very reason! ;-) :-D HUGS! ♥

  • sorry I didn't know about your hubby. My hubby has an immune heredity problem that his body is eating away at his own bone in his joints of his legs mainly. So I have to live in the now myself and leave everything up to God.

    • Thanks, Jill. God is good, and gives grace to us to handle
whatever it is that we must deal with ... as you know.
Oh Jill, what a difficult thing that your hubby must endure.
That sounds so painful! You are wise to live in the now, &
to leave all to God ... that's the best way to live. ♥

  • Well, since Mike does the dishes...The Doc said you should not clean the house, clean the toilet, do the laundry, make the beds, cook the food, or buy the groceries for a month! ;-) :-D :-P (I'm trying to get you outa' some work here! ;-) )

    Happy Sunday!

I hope you are at rest
    In your cozy nest
    Feelin' the love-fest
    Are you wearing a vest?
    I commented some jest
But,trying not to be a pest
Praying you soon feel your best!
    I must go now...I'm under arrest! ;-)

Ha! This is an -est poem. It was invented by
    Ernest West. Ha! Snort! :-D

    HUGS!!! and ♥ !!! :-)

  • J.C. noticed our little sticky note and he asked what that was about and we lied and told him that a man was back in the tub naked and then we all laughed.
I'm glad he has a good sense of humor and is a jokester himself cause he laughed.
I watched house hunter on HGTV and when they step in the shower or tub I always think of,"J.C. saying to please take your shoes off."
Do you think we've taken this joke as far as we can about the man on ebay? At least you didn't see the old man but I can't get it out of my brain. Not really, you know I'm a nurse and I've seen it all and then some.

    • LOL! It is fun to go back and forth with people who have a good sense of humor!
I know all about that ... having been born into a family like that, and living
in a family like that (hubby & me & offspring)! :-D

It can be hard to get an image like that out of one's head; however, for a nurse
(or other caregiver), I guess one might become used to it!

  • I regret Carolyn to be so late to read and comment but my rhythm is slow .I have no idea what was that minor surgery but it is obvious you have been well surrounded and spoiled by your husband , family and friends from Church. I believe it is the reward of your kindness .

I read the article of your husband "blind in the USA" . I have been captivated . This is breathtaking . Besides I have a old friend of my choir who is almost blind now and I m facinated by the spectacular growing of his memory for instance in music . He memorizes the all of the partition of tenor of the musical pièces we sing and it is not little pièces but Bach , Mozart, Vivalsi, César Franck ,Poulenc ..; he walk alone in the street, memorizing any tiny things. I understood fully what your hustand wrote. He says his situation make him nearer of Christ. By the way is the entire site "The Master's Prayer Network" is from him ?
    Have a quick recovery Carolyn
    Love
    Michel

    • Thank you, Michel. I'm back now to my old self and doing much better. As always, you are very kind to me.
What you say regarding my husband is all true. One learns to look to God more when we cannot "do it all"
on our own. Yes, my husband Mike is the one who created the entire site. He writes his own Bible studies.
The only thing that is not his own material is the devotional e-book that was written by our friend Lana.
Oh, and of course the one newspaper article that was written about him. Thank you for reading and also
for your sweet comments and interest. I read the comment above to Mike, and he was blessed and encouraged!
      Love,
      Carolyn

  • Just checking in on you!
    Or bugging you!
    Whichever you like best! ;-)
Hope you are feeling better and healing nicely!
You are in my thoughts and prayers!
    HUGS!!! and ♥ !!! :-D

    • I am doing much better now. I think I'm back to my old self! :-)
I'll pick "checking on you" ... although I do know some very cute bugs! ;-)
thank you for the thoughts, prayers, hugs, AND ♥ :-D

  • I did not know that you were going to have surgery. I hope everything is fine now. Beautiful flowers. Good to have support when you are down, no? Love and hugs.

  • Can you believe it's Thursday already?!
I hope you've been resting all week!
I've been praying for you all week!
    :-)
    HUGS and ♥ !!! :-)

  • thanks I don't always feel fun but people tell me I am fun to be with.
    love you. jilly
