Beautiful Autumn Excursion
On one or two different days, I decided to take some pictures of the beautiful trees and sky in our greater Springfield city area. We live just north of the city in a suburb, and often go into the city (about three minutes south of us). What enjoyment I received! What a great, creative Artist is our God . . . no human can match His work!
Our city is proud to be designated as a "Tree City." Here is a website that explains all about it. TREE CITY
When I see the trees ... so beautiful ... I think of: 1. a Bible verse from Isaiah 55:12 (the whole chapter is wonderful!) ~ "You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song, and the trees of the field will clap their hands!" - and 2. a poem by Joyce Kilmer
Trees
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

How beautiful. Your pictures are awesome. We do not get that here, but like snow I enjoy looking at the pictures.
Hugs!!
Thank you, Sharon. But you do get those awesome pictures of the ocean and the coastlines. I always love your pictures, too. Are you feeling better now (from shingles)? I hope so. HUGS2u2!!
I thought of doing a post like that once, using that poem, but I never got around to it. I can see why they call your city Tree City. Beautiful pictures. North of us is the town of Goshen which is called Maple City because of the many maple trees.
"Land of Goshen" . . . I looked that up to see what the expression meant... also the original land was the land in which Joseph's family moved when he brought them to Egypt. Bet they didn't have beautiful maple trees. Do you have lots of trees where you live? I was thinking that you did. You always have so many beautiful pictures. Some of my favorites are your own property with your lake and all.
Beautiful, Joyce. Love the pictures, and the poem by Kilmer is my most favorite. I think about this poem every single day when I am driving and see the beauty of the trees.
Thank you for your prayers for Dave. He is feeling better.
Thank you, Zakiah, for your kind comments. I have always loved that poem by Kilmer, too. You would have beautiful trees where you live, I know.
I finished the book Stray Thoughts/Winged Words. I wrote a review for it which can be read here, I believe: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1W8C86HBQPOP3/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm
Do I recall correctly that you are in the process of writing a second book?
I shall continue to pray for Dave. I am so thankful to God for Dave's improvement.
Hugs... Carolyn
Loved that poem and all the great photos.
My dear front tree is getting ready for winter by covering my lawn with her leaves.
Hope you had a good weekend.

Thanks, Frank. Many or the trees are becoming bare around here now. Winter is definitely on her way! We had a good weekend; hope you did as well.
Oh Carolyn, I love these photos, and the poem by Joyce Kilmer! Autumn is my favorite time of year, with the variety of colors painted against the deep blue sky ... our trees are pretty bare around here now, too, but there are still a few stubborn leaves hanging on for dear life! We just saw our first snow flakes here today ... and it's very cold, but I love it!
So glad to see you posting again ... my Premium subscription expired in October, and now I'm unable to get into my Xanga site to post, but, thankfully, I am still able to log in, read and comment on others! Not many are showing up on my 'Reading' list here, either, even though I have all my 'Following'(followers) from the 'old' Xanga showing up on the list here. *Sigh, yes, it's a bit confusing around here! I may have already told you this, but since I can't get back into my site, at least until they devise a plan to do so, (for there's no where to pay for a subscription just yet) I do have my (free) site over on Blogger:

I need to get back to it ... I've missed blogging, and I've found other Xanga friends there, too. So hope you'll come visit and follow!
Hope you, and yours, have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving Day, Carolyn ... we all have so much to be grateful for!!
Warm hugs to you, dear friend!!

Thanks, Debi. I did follow you over to your blogspot and put a reply there (although I don't see it). Anyway, I shall be over to visit you again... this time I made sure to "follow" you so that I can keep up with you.
It will be great to keep up with you again! I need to go fix dinner now, but I shall be back to read your posts. TTYS.... love you ... Carolyn
