We had planned to go to Illinois to be with my Mom on the day
after Mother's Day. Mom is having hip replacement surgery on
Tuesday, May 14th. However, due to strained back muscles, I
will not be able to make that trip. After a visit to our E.R. one
week ago, and some steroid pills, pain meds, massage therapy,
lots of rest and cold packs it looks like even after two weeks of
this thing, I still am not able to say that I have had a pain-free day,

Don't be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!
Nehemiah 8:10-c; Philippians 4:4 (NLT)
So ... I choose to be joyful, and am thankful that my Mom
is a very strong, courageous, faith-filled lady! If you think of her,
please pray that she will have a successful surgery, and that the
pain and recovery time won't be bad. Mom is 88 1/2 years old, and
is one very special lady. How I thank God for her! She has had a
long life of serving God, and being a real encourager and blessing
to many. Thank you for your prayers for her.

Below is the card that I made and sent to her. I don't think that the card
will play correctly, but at least you can see the pictures. The first picture
is from 1961, right after they had completed their family of three girls and
a son. The second picture is of our last time that all four of their children
were together with them for Thanksgiving, 2009.
Dad went Home to be with the Lord on January of 2012.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day. Here is a really
good article that really speaks to anyone who may dread this day
for any reason.
