  • REMEMBERING THOSE OF MEMORIAL DAY

There are so many of my family and friends who have served in the military, that I can't even begin to name them all, so I shall just say those of my family members: beginning with Dad, Brother Don, Son Shaun & his wife Melissa, and sisters-in-law, my sister's husband Sam, her son Stephen, my father in law, and a couple of brothers in law, and I hope that I'm not missing any ... though I may be, especially if I go back farther in time. I cannot begin to say enough "THANK YOU'S"  to all of them and to all of my friends, and even those whom I don't know, but who have given of themselves. As this next says it so well --

HERE IS A PICTURE OF MY DAD who served as a Pharmacist Mate E-5,a Pharmacist Mate E-5, in the Psych ward in a hospital in Hawaii during WWII.

    UPDATE ON MY MOM
This picture was taken of Mom & my husband Mike on Dec. 25th, 2012.
We had just arrived at her apartment that afternoon in time for supper.
It was a total surprise for her, as we hadn't told her that we were coming
from Ohio to Illinois to visit her for a few days. happy

Thank you for your kind words, for your thoughts,

and prayers for my Mom. She is slowly improving,
and has times of real discouragement. She really
appreciates that my friends care and are praying for her.
My back is still giving me pain & some mobility  problems,
so I still cannotmake a long trip to Illinois. However, I only have a week or two left of school responsibilities, and then
I am hoping that I will be healed enough to be able
to make the trip to Illinois to see Mom.
I told her that I would share the words from each of you:  Brenda, Carolyn, Frank, Gracia, Izakura, Linda, MaeMichelMiriam, and Zakiah.

  • Suzi, Kailas, Mom update, and Armed Forces Day

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TO OUR NIECE SUZI, WHO IS #30 TODAY!

    Where did the time go?

Here she is with her brother Stephen when she was around 4 years old ...

and with her husband and two older kids in 2011 with her Grandparents (my parents). Suzi is so thoughtful and caring with her Grandma (& was also with Grandpa).

Here is their youngest child, Jeralynn

... and she won't be the youngest much longer! happy

Another special day is May 19th.

This is the birthday of a very special "adopted sister" of both Mike and me. Kailas Chinta lived with us for one year -- back in 1978. She was the one who drove us to the hospital when I was ready to give birth to our older son Tom. We have continued to keep up with her and her family (also they adopted us as well as we them) in India. They have visited with us several times, and we keep in touch by Facebook, emails, snail mail, and by phone.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR KAILAS!!

WE THANK GOD FOR YOU & JAY, AND ARPAN, AND KARLEEN & CHETAN.

In my last blog posting I asked for prayer for my Mom, who was having her left hip replacement surgery on Tuesday of this past week. The surgery went well, and she is in rehab, but there are some problems. Her left foot, and now her left leg isn't moving. She also has experienced a lot of severe pain. Please pray for Mom as she goes through her PT over the next couple of  weeks, and that she might be able to use that leg.

NOTE: My back strain is much better now; I'm still not back to full strength, I still have pain and need the ice packs & some pain pills, but not nearly as badly as the first couple of weeks. Thank you for your prayers for me, too.

TODAY IS ALSO ARMED FORCES DAY IN THE U.S., AND SO I WANTED TO SAY A HUGE THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED.

In closing, I want to share a verse from my devotions today:  "May those who come to you be happy and rejoice.     May those who love being saved by you always be able to say, 'Praise the Lord!'” (Psalm 40:16)

    HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEK!

  • HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

     hmd6.gif (466×70)

We had planned to go to Illinois to be with my Mom on the day

after Mother's Day. Mom is having hip replacement surgery on

Tuesday, May 14th. However, due to strained back muscles, I

will not be able to make that trip. After a visit to our E.R. one

week ago, and some steroid pills, pain meds, massage therapy,

lots of rest and cold packs it looks like even after two weeks of

this thing, I still am not able to say that I have had a pain-free day,

Don't be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!

Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!

                        Nehemiah 8:10-c; Philippians 4:4 (NLT)

So ... I choose to be joyful, and am thankful that my Mom

is a very strong, courageous, faith-filled lady! If you think of her,

please pray that she will have a successful surgery, and that the

pain and recovery time won't be bad. Mom is 88 1/2 years old, and

is one very special lady. How I thank God for her!  She has had a

long life of serving God, and being a real encourager and blessing

to many. Thank you for your prayers for her.

Below is the card that I made and sent to her. I don't think that the card

will play correctly, but at least you can see the pictures. The first picture

is from 1961, right after they had completed their family of three girls and

a son. The second picture is of our last time that all four of their children

were together with them for Thanksgiving, 2009.

Dad went Home to be with the Lord on January of 2012.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day. Here is a really

good article that really speaks to anyone who may dread this day

    for any reason.
